Dali Lama and Inspiring Thoughts

By: Aazdak Alisimo..

There are certain figures through history that grow in stature as the years pass and their words are reflected upon. The beauty of the Dali Lama is he is still with us today and continues to impart wisdom daily.

1. If the love within your mind is lost and you see other beings as enemies, then no matter how much knowledge or education or material comfort you have, only suffering and confusion will ensue.

2. I myself feel, and also tell other Buddhists that the question of Nirvana will come later. There is not much hurry. If in day to day life you lead a good life, honesty, with love, with compassion, with less selfishness, then automatically it will lead to Nirvana.

3. I am open to the guidance of synchronicity, and do not let expectations hinder my path.

4. I pray for a more friendly, more caring, and more understanding human family on this planet. To all who dislike suffering, who cherish lasting happiness, this is my heartfelt appeal.

5. If you have a particular faith or religion, that is good. But you can survive without it.

6. The purpose of all the major religious traditions is not to construct big temples on the outside, but to create temples of goodness and compassion inside, in our hearts.

7. In Buddhism we have relative truth and absolute truth.

8. We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.

9. My message is the practice of compassion, love and kindness. Compassion can be put into practice if one recognizes the fact that every human being is a member of humanity and the human family regardless of differences in religion, culture, color and creed. Deep down there is no difference.

10. I believe deeply that we must find, all of us together, a new spirituality.

11. There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness.

12. In the practice of tolerance, one's enemy is the best teacher.

13. For those who may not find happiness to exercise religious faith, it's okay to remain a radical atheist, it's absolutely an individual right, but the important thing is with a compassionate heart then no problem.

14. True compassion is not just an emotional response but a firm commitment founded on reason.

15. Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend or a meaningful day.

The hectic pace of life these days can lead one to miss the forest for the trees. Before you know it, the years will pass and you will wonder what happened. Apply these quotes to your life, and you can avoid this problem.
